Concept

Meridian was commissioned by a hospitality group looking to create a members-only workspace that felt like a well-designed home rather than an office. The brief called for a space that could support focused solo work in the morning and informal client meetings by the afternoon — all within a single, coherent interior.

We organized the floor plan into a series of distinct zones — a library-style quiet room, a communal table beneath a grid of pendant lights, and a series of semi-enclosed booths upholstered in deep green velvet. The reception was treated as a living room, with a curved sofa and a fireplace to anchor arrivals.

Furniture and Lighting

All furniture was sourced from independent American makers, with a focus on solid wood frames and natural upholstery. We avoided anything that read as office equipment — task chairs were replaced with dining-weight seating, and every desk surface was topped with leather rather than laminate.

Lighting was layered across three circuits to allow the mood of the space to shift throughout the day. Wall sconces provide a steady ambient base, while adjustable pendants over the work surfaces give members control over their immediate environment. The result is a space that members consistently describe as somewhere they actually want to spend time.
